Detailed Itinerary

Arrive in Paro with breathtaking aerial views of Mount Jumolhari and Jichu Drake. Upon arrival, visit Paro Dzong, the National Museum (Ta Dzong), and cross the traditional cantilever bridge. Later, enjoy a scenic drive to Thimphu, the capital city of Bhutan.
Overnight in Thimphu.

Spend the day exploring the highlights of Thimphu:
• Visit the majestic Buddha Dordenma, one of the largest bronze Buddha statues in the world.
• Explore the Memorial Chorten, a monument of peace and spirituality.
• Visit the National Library and the Institute for Zorig Chusum (Painting School) to witness traditional Bhutanese arts and crafts.
• Discover the Paper Factory and learn how traditional paper is made.
• Visit the Motithang Takin Preserve, home to Bhutan’s unique national animal — the Takin.
Overnight in Thimphu.

Travel via the stunning Dochula Pass (3,100m), where on clear days you’ll enjoy magnificent views of the Himalayan ranges. Descend into the warm and fertile valley of Punakha and visit:
• The impressive Punakha Dzong, also known as the Palace of Great Happiness.
• The beautiful Suspension Bridge — one of the longest in Bhutan.
• Enjoy a gentle walk through the countryside to Chimi Lhakhang, the fertility temple dedicated to Lama Drukpa Kuenley, also known as the Divine Madman.
Overnight in Punakha

Drive through scenic forests and mountain passes to reach Gangtey. Visit the historic Gangtey Gompa, a 17th-century monastery, and enjoy breathtaking views of the Phobjikha Valley, a glacial valley and winter habitat of the endangered Black-Necked Cranes. Overnight in Gangtey.
Attend the lively Black-Necked Crane Festival held at Gangtey Monastery, dedicated to the arrival of the revered cranes. Experience a day filled with: • Traditional masked dances and folk songs • Crane-themed performances by local schoolchildren • Environmental plays and cultural displays celebrating harmony between people and nature After the festivities, take a peaceful nature walk around the Phobjikha Valley. Overnight in Gangtey.
After breakfast, visit the RSPN Conservation Centre to learn about the conservation efforts for the Black-Necked Cranes and local wildlife. Later, drive back to Paro, stopping at Rinchengang Village, known for its traditional stone masonry and unique clustered houses. Overnight in Paro.
Today’s highlight is a hike to the sacred Taktsang (Tiger’s Nest Monastery), dramatically perched on a cliff at 3,100m. The trail offers stunning views and a rewarding sense of achievement. Enjoy lunch at the Taktsang Cafeteria, overlooking the valley below. In the evening, stroll through Paro town to explore local handicraft shops and cafés. Overnight in Paro.
